My Christmas Tree

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and that means it’s time to deck the halls and put up the Christmas tree! Decorating the Christmas tree has been a family tradition of mine for as long as I can remember and a year has never passed without it. We typically put our tree up right after Thanksgiving and leave it up until New Years to enjoy it for a few extra days. There’s just something about the warm lights and sparkle in the ornaments that make your home feel extra cozy for the holidays.

I believe there are two types of Christmas tree people…..traditional with a theme or classic with a mix of ornaments. I have always had more of a classic Christmas tree with a mix of ornaments from all different places, each with their own memory. It’s been so fun to collect my own set of ornaments with Gabe that reflect our life and moments together. We have collected ornaments from different places that we have traveled, several Boston Terriers, and of course ornaments from our first Christmas as a husband and wife.

I love a full Christmas tree and one way I achieve this is by adding picks and ribbon. I have several type of picks with berries, pinecones, and glitter. I choose a different ribbon each year and this time I went with black and white gingham. I recommend going with a wider ribbon and one that is wired. Michaels and Hobby Lobby always have a great selection and they are very well priced. I have styled my ribbon in several different ways and although this can be a stressful step for me, I have found that it’s best to not strive for perfection and just let the ribbon hang and flow how it wants. It looks more natural and also makes the process more enjoyable. haha

I finished off my tree with a gold star topper, a fur blanket for the skirt, and presents of course! I’m loving all the vintage printed boxes that are out this year, I feel that they add some extra character. Now time to turn on the Hallmark Chanel, make a cup of hot chocolate, and wrap up in a cozy blanket.

For now I only have room for one Christmas tree but maybe in a year or two we will have room for several……shhhh don’t tell my hubby! lol Happy Christmas tree decorating friends!
